Well we all know how tasking it is to achieve that with black nappy or biracial curly hair. EbonyPrague believes its a matter of cultivating a healthy hair regimen. Using the right products and having a consistent routine that pampers your child's hair will go a long way.
- Shampoo wash hair at least once a week, and using light conditioners such as the Elasta QP creme leave -in conditioner so as not to weigh down their soft hair.
- Use a detangling frizz spray such as this when combing or taking out plaits to avoid not just the tears but also reduces hair loss.
- Try to use a jumbo comb, it helps to avoid the typical kinky curl knotting process.
Are you sitting there thinking, "But I've tried all that, my child's natural hair is just tough and unmanageable"?
Well have you considered relaxing your child's hair. It is chemically possible and safe to apply a relaxer on black hair from the age of six, but some would rather stay away till age 14 (when the baby hair phase is complete).
Remember, you don't have to aim for a bone straight relaxed look with your child. What you should be trying to achieve is a better texture for manageability. You can consider texturising rather than a full relaxer treatment. Using the texturising method is much milder than a typical relaxer application. Texturizing can be done on both black nappy hair and bi-racial curly hair.
